Bob McGrory

Bob is a practiced public administration professional with a robust career spanning municipal management, international consulting, and policy advising.

Since 2017, Bob has served as a consultant for various entities including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), USAID, and multiple local governments in the U.S. and Tanzania. His work has focused on promoting economic development, regulatory reform, election support, and capacity-building. He has advised on areas such as zoning, waste management, budgeting, communications, and public-private partnerships to enhance community resilience and business climate.

Previously, Bob held key leadership roles in several Maryland municipalities. As City Administrator of Brunswick, he spearheaded initiatives to create enterprise zones, secure bond funding, and launch loan programs to foster small business growth. His tenure as Town Manager in Centreville included leading revitalization projects such as a multi-million-dollar waterfront redevelopment and forming strategic partnerships to boost tourism and local commerce. In both roles, he demonstrated a strong commitment to planning, infrastructure development, and community engagement.

Bob earlier experience includes serving as Mayor and Town Administrator in Bladensburg, where he advanced adaptive reuse projects and regional collaboration. His work at Northern Virginia Community College further expanded his project management expertise, where he directed large-scale IT and HR development programs supporting thousands of stakeholders. Across all roles, he has exhibited a deep commitment to efficient governance, stakeholder inclusion, and strategic planning.

In addition to his professional duties, Bob has maintained an active presence in public service and community engagement. He has held leadership roles in ICMA, the Maryland City/County Management Association, and the Maryland Municipal League. He’s also served on numerous boards supporting heritage tourism, community development, and public safety.

His educational background includes studies at Yale University and the University of Maryland, with recognition as a Qualified Project Manager by the Virginia Information Technology Agency. His extensive public speaking and election oversight experience further highlight his broad and impactful career in public service.
